Now that my book is seemingly starting to reach peoples' bookshelves, I wanted to quickly reinforce one key point I make in the opening section regarding how I want people to use this book. This has been inspired by Koen's tweet (relating to this) and also refers back to the motivation behind my Graphiti contest a while back. Rather than rewrite what I wrote in the book, here's the passage itself:


Books are lovely to collect and line up alongside on your book shelves alongside your growing collection of references but, and I'm as guilty as anyone, sometimes this ornamental role is the only one they ultimately fulfil.
